If you take a closer look at our pliers, you will notice that the handles have been relabeled. The reason for this is to comply with the requirements of the EU Product Safety Regulation (GPSR, Regulation (EU) 2023/988).
Background: EU Product Safety Regulation (GPSR)
The EU Product Safety Regulation governs consumer product safety requirements throughout Europe. Among other things, the regulation aims to increase transparency and enable clear product traceability.
One component of this regulation is that manufacturers must also label their products with clearly recognizable contact information. This includes:
- the postal address of the manufacturer
- an electronic contact address (e-mail address).

What does this mean for KNIPEX pliers?
For KNIPEX pliers with plastic-coated handles, this information has been integrated into the labeling on the handles (see pictures above).
The change is reflected in a slightly modified handle labeling, which now contains additional manufacturer information.

Rollout in production
The change was implemented during ongoing production. Since our pliers are manufactured and the handles labeled at our production site in Wuppertal, the updated labeling has been gradually incorporated into production and will be visible in the products delivered worldwide.
It is important to note that:
- Quality, function, and manufacturing remain unchanged.

Why do some product images still show the previous printing?
On our website or in other media, individual product images may still show the previous labeling.
Implementing the requirements of the EU Product Safety Regulation involves additional organizational and technical effort. To make this process efficient, product descriptions are being updated step by step.
Therefore, during the transition phase, it may happen that
- a product already has the updated labeling and
- the corresponding product image still shows the previous version.

With the additional labeling, we ensure that the required manufacturer information is available directly on the product; clearly visible and traceable at all times for everyone who works with KNIPEX tools.
