Atramentised Pliers Surface
Atramentised or phosphated finishes are widely used on KNIPEX pliers and are very popular with users. This surface treatment consists of a dark phosphate coating. The matt finish reduces the reflection of light, which can be particularly advantageous when working on bright or reflective workpieces. Atramenting gives the pliers an attractive appearance, a good grip, but also weaker corrosion protection (compared to a chrome-plated finish). Atramentised pliers should be well oiled at all times to improve protection against rust.
Who are atramentised pliers suitable for? Basically for everyone. However, if you work in an area with a wet or humid climate, or you store your tools in a service vehicle all year round, we would recommend the chrome-plated versions or more frequent tool maintenance.
